Taylor Swift turned heads tonight when she made a surprise arrival at the 2022 MTV VMAs.
The "Blank Space" singer, who is nominated for five awards tonight, was a vision in a shimmering silver minidress, matching chandelier crystal Christian Louboutin strappy heels, and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. The dazzling, flapper-inspired Oscar de la Renta dress looked to be made up of layers of shimmering silver chains, encrusted with clear jewels and pearls. The chains in the bust and skirt area were layered over a nude fabric, while the middle part of the dress exposed Swift's bare torso.
The piece was sleeveless and featured a halter neckline and no back. Long strings of jewels fell down the multi-hyphenate's bare back as she walked the red carpet at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Her earrings were spiky, pear-shaped diamonds, and perfectly complemented her glamorous, timeless beauty look. Swift's hair was swept up in a near bun with bangs parted down the middle. For makeup, she wore a delicate silver cat eye and red lip.
Her longtime boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, did not join her on the red carpet.
Swift is nominated for Best Video, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, and Best Long Form Video—all for her "All Too Well" short film.
Over the past several years, Swift has somewhat retreated from the spotlight and become increasingly private about her life. Her appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards tonight marks her first award show attendance since the 2021 Grammys. And her last VMAs appearance was in 2019, when she famously opened the award show with a colorful performance of her hit "You Need to Calm Down."
