Removable wallpaper has gained popularity over the past few years—and rightfully so. The alternative to pasted wallcoverings allows renters (or those who change their decor style regularly!) to get the look of patterned walls without angering landlords. Thanks to Society Social and peel-and-stick home decor brand WallPops, there’s a new option on the market that every texture lover will obsess over: faux grasscloth peel-and-stick wallpaper.
As a longtime renter and wallpaper enthusiast, Society Social founder Roxy Owens was frustrated by the lack of temporary wallpaper options in the grasscloth category. “The texture and color never quite lived up to the gorgeous designer wallcoverings I was accustomed to seeing in my favorite spaces,” Owens tells House Beautiful. Now as a first-time homeowner, Owens would have no problem professionally installing natural grasscloth wallpaper onto every wall in her house. But she's faced with a different problem: the high cost of wallpapering an entire home.
In collaboration with WallPops, Owens set out to make grasscloth wallpaper that looks luxurious and is budget-friendly. “Handmade natural grasscloth wallpaper is labor-intensive, which makes it very expensive,” Owens explains. “Our faux grasscloth collection with NuWallpaper uses premium printing techniques to capture the high-end look of authentic designer grasscloth wallcoverings, but it is significantly more affordable.”
The collection is available in 10 colorways, ranging from sky blue and wheat to citrus green and lilac. The rolls are priced at around $60 each, making it ideal for renters, homeowners, design rookies, and experts alike. (“The price point means that it's not restricted to the powder room,” Owens exclaims.) The whole collection is currently available to shop through both WallPops and Society Social’s websites.
