This is part of the first ever downtown Christmas story window stroll, produced by the Golden Goose Club and Oskaloosa Main Street, and funded by the Mahaska County Community Foundation. The hike was led by Vicky Collette, who served as the Vice President/Secretary of the Golden Goose Club and a volunteer on the Oskaloosa Main Street Design Committee.

"I like to decorate for Christmas. When I was packing things up last year, I was reading my grandson's "Christmas Eve" book, and it suddenly occurred to me that it would be fun to decorate these pictures around windows in the city center," Vicky Collette said . "From there, my daughter suggested that we let local artists draw the story on the poster, and then let the elementary school students make paper chains, and then the best part: the idea of ​​a souvenir coloring book. Jessica and Dadao have a great interest in this book Help. I think this is an interesting way to bring people in the community together to participate in a wonderful family event. On Saturday, December 4, posters and decorations for the 34th Annual Christmas Parade of Lights are on the shelves. The first poster was exhibited at Hawkeye Real Estate, and the route stretched west, south and east, looping around the square and ending at Klaus’s flower house. Thanks to Briana Bartlett, the art teacher of Oskaloosa Elementary School, the paper chains made by local students of Oskaloosa Elementary and Oskaloosa Christian are also posted in the downtown stores along the way. For a whole month, the community was invited to self-guided tours at any time. There will be more fun in the coming two Saturdays!

From Saturday, December 11, and Saturday, December 18, from 3 pm to 5 pm, families can check in at the Welcome Desk in Penn Central Mall to receive Santa hats and luminous necklaces. After 15 posters in the city, the family was invited back to the mall to vote for their favorite, enter to win prizes, enjoy hot cocoa and biscuits provided by Mahaska Drug, meet with local children’s writer Taylor Dishman, and receive a souvenir coating Color book. The walking tour is particularly festive under the lights of the illuminated paintings, which is the dazzling festive lighting in the center of Oscaroosa. Now it is the fifth year, and the light has expanded again! Two other companies painted the exterior walls of their buildings: mobile equipment repair and State Farm Kelli Steil. Thanks to generous funding from the Golden Goose Club and the George Daily Family Trust, a programmable 20-foot twinkling Christmas tree was added to City Square Park. Thanks to Musco, Oscaroosa and DB Landscaping, this historic band is also outlined with bright LED lights.
