Millersport High School holds commencement

The Walnut Township Local School District held commencement for the Class of 2022 on Sunday in the District Auditorium.  The High School Concert Band offered the Prelude and Processional Music. 

High School Principal Megan Terry greeted those present and introduced the guests.  The salutatorian address was given by McKenzie Qurshi.  The valedictorians Eleanora Stoner and Nathan Turner gave their addresses.  The presentation of awards was given by Megan Terry.  Superintendent William Kirby presented the Class of 2022 with Board of Education and Faculty members presenting their diplomas. 

Class of 2022 co-presidents Kalani Maynard and Nathan Turner conducted the Passing of the Class by presenting “The Anchor” to Class of 2023 President Alexandria Kelly.  The High School Choir sang the Alma Mater and “Two Irish Blessings."  Following the Recessional the Class of 2022 proceeded to the flag pole for the traditional tossing of the caps.

Millersport Village Council met May 10. The Activities Committee met before the March Council meeting and set the dates of June 25th, July 16th, and August 20th for the  Music in the Parks series.

The Village Solicitor is working on the Cincinnati Insurance lien and the role of ADR, DuraSeal and Kokosing Materials.  There was an extensive conversation concerning the events of the Lancaster Street Project that was funded by the Ohio Public Works Commission.  The suggestion was made to contact the OPWC and the Attorney General’s Office.

Millersport Police Chief Mark Consolo sent statistics for the month of April.  The department issued 20 traffic warnings, four traffic citations, 14 dispatch runs and four mutual aid runs.

Walnut Township Fire Chief Robert Price sent run totals for April.  Millersport Station 631 had 25 runs, Fairfield Beach Station 632 had 18 runs, and Thurston Station 633 had 21 runs.  There were 21 mutual aid runs.

CT Consultants recommended Council award the meter bid to NECO Water and the tower bid to D&M Painting.  Council authorized CT Consulting to apply for low-interest loans for the village.  Resolutions were approved for meters and painting and restorations.  Both projects are to be started this summer and to be completed by the end of 2022.

Local Waste was willing to send a roll-off to the village for town clean-up.  Jean Nebbergall was willing to allow a 30-yard dumpster on the property of the closed daycare center.  Council recommended Thursday through Sunday, May 12th through May 15th as the weekend of Spring Clean Up.

The village took over the organizing and planning of the Memorial Day Parade.  Suzy Peters, Angela Centofani, and Amber Hetteberg agreed to help coordinate the festivities.
