A wonderful way to celebrate fall is to attend the September Culture Crawl in downtown Hamilton on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Take a nice walk around downtown and visit the participating venues from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and enjoy the work of many talented Montana artists, musicians and authors.

Also, be sure to pick up a Culture Crawl punch card at each venue, get it punched and then turn it in. You might win the gift basket with fall gifts from all the participating venues. It is a basket full of the spirit of fall.

Chapter One Book Store, 252 Main St. in Hamilton, has author Julia Sullivan doing a book signing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Her book, "The Bone Necklace," is a novel about the Nez Perce War of 1877.

Explore the ARTS studios and galleries located at 701 Main Hamilton, (formerly Montana Bliss Artworks) will be featuring the Artists Along the Bitterroot Studio Tour. Explore the ARTS will be hosting four of these artists who will be showcasing their work and talent in demonstrations and participation activities. Barbara Liss will be featuring her current sculpture in process, sculpting with polymer clay, Paltiya and concrete. See how she is integrating them all into one sculpture and adding a mosaic design by artist Patty Franklin.

Bonnie Cazier will be demonstrating the use of alcohol inks on ceramic tiles - you are welcome to try this medium out. Julie Wulf will be showing how to paint on silk with dyes. Shirley Sylvester will be demonstrating a variety of watercolor techniques.

It will be fun to compare and contrast all of these fine artists’ styles and techniques. The AAB Tour is an exciting event that showcases the artistic talents of the Bitterroot Visual Arts Community.

Explore the ARTS Education Program, 701 Main St. in Hamilton, will have its fall workshop schedule available to review during Culture Crawl on Saturday, Sept. 10. Program Director Jean Driescher will be featuring a new Youth Clay Workshop called Kids Klay at the ClayWorks! as well as additional adult, youth and family workshops. Registration is now open, and workshops fill up fast so register early.

Art Focus, 215 W. Main St in Hamilton, will be featuring a special showing of the work of Coeur d‘Alene artist Jeff Weir. The show, "Giddy Up," reflects his vision of Idaho wildlife and figures. He works with oil on canvas and brings life and feeling to his imagination of days gone by. The show will be at Art Focus in September, and you can stop by and enjoy the show during Culture Crawl.

Art City, located at 407 Main St. in Hamilton, will be featuring watercolor artist and silk painter, Diane Olhoeft for her “Fur, Feathers and Silk” show. Diane loves the free-flowing way the colors, paper and silk dance together in tune with the spontaneous movement of nature like fall leaves in the wind. Diane especially has a wonderful style for the flow of color and silk. Visitors must watch the process in person to really appreciate her talent. Come by during Culture Crawl.

Clayworks! In the Bitterroot, 325 Main St. in Hamilton, will be featuring a clay throwdown for the Empty Bowl Luncheon event coming up in November. If you are a potter and would like to throw some bowls, please come by during Culture Crawl and help from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 10. All clay and tools are provided. Hundreds of bowls need to be made for the event. Also, be sure to check out the fall workshop schedule and the gallery. It is not too soon to be thinking of holiday gifts and Clayworks! has many talented clay artists and potters.

So, fall in love with the Bitterroot Art Community and support Culture Crawl, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 10.
