Clean mascara lovers rejoice-the new beauty brand Caliray (from Urban Decay founder Wende Zomnir and business partner Jenna Dover) recently released Come Hell or High Water mascara, which is a waterproof formula that is expected to be zero-irritating Chemicals lengthen and nourish eyelashes. Now, you may be thinking, why should I be excited about waterproof formulations? Well, this is the biggest* deal for the clean mascara community, as most options are easy to peel and apply (since there is no wax to provide fixation in traditional mascara formulations). In addition, most cleansing mascaras avoid the use of waterproof or water-repellent technologies because many of the ingredients do not meet the typical cleaning standards, but now, with this mascara option, those obvious dark circles are a thing of the past.

I am a big fan of clean beauty, so I am particularly excited to try Come Hell or High Water mascara. The lack of chemicals is a huge advantage for these types of formulations, but when I *know* that I will have a busy day and need extra hold of my mascara, I still find myself reaching for the traditional formula. Will this new option finally give me the lasting results I desire?

After spending three weeks of busy city life in this formula, this is what I know about Caliray’s $24 Come Hell or High Water mascara.

Although the lack of U.S. regulations means that "cleanliness" standards are not universal, Caliray follows EU cleanliness standards, which means that the formula does not contain parabens, sulfates, phthalates, formaldehyde, and bisphenol A , Nanomaterials, microplastics, mineral oil, hydroquinone and cyclic silicone. In addition, this mascara contains argan oil, which can condition your eyelashes while you wear it, which is a great advantage because most waterproof and waterproof formulas tend to dry out.

As I explained, most clean mascaras are notorious for smudging or flaking after a few hours of use-there are few and no waterproof options. So, you may ask, what makes this formula unique? Well, it is a clean tube mascara, which is very rare in the clean beauty industry. If you need to know what a tube mascara is, it is a formula containing polymers that can be combined with each other on the eyelashes to form a waterproof and antifouling product. The tube product surrounds each eyelash. Think of the tube technique as a temporary pigmented cap attached to and surrounding your personal eyelashes to achieve stain-free separation. This is different from traditional mascara formulations, which (a bit random) deposit pigment on the eyelashes, making the eyelashes darker, thicker and/or longer.

Come Hell or High Water mascara can not only be applied to the eyelashes, but also be kind to the earth. The tube is made of 100% marine plastic, and its packaging is made of 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Caliray is also working with Pact, a non-profit return mailing program that will accept empty product packaging and recycle it for you.

So yes, on paper, Caliray mascara has many advantages, but I was disappointed with the clean formula before. However, I am happy to report that this mascara is not only effective (meaning that my lashes look very long and flowing), but it also holds up when I use my favorite facial spray at noon-no runny Pigmented or sagging eyelashes. I can finally spray my face to keep my skin hydrated and happy without having to stand up from my WFH to fix any stains in the mirror.

I also noticed that this mascara stays in good condition throughout the day, even if I walk three miles outdoors. I have also tried applying mascara to the gym (I have never done this before) just to make it stand the final test. After my ellipse routine, I left a bright red face and zero traces of mascara under my eyes. touching!

The brush itself is quite thin, which makes it easy to apply Come Hell or High Water formula on my lower lashes and around the corners of my eyes. Plus, with only one layer, the color payoff is incredible-the formula is very dark, which helps define every lash from root to tip. I also found that for a clean formula, this brush does a great job of extending eyelashes-people have even kept asking me where to finish the eyelashes. They really look so long.

In addition, it is very easy to remove (remember, it is waterproof, not waterproof). I took a warm, damp gauze and massaged my eyelashes until the black tube loosened. No pulling or rough pulling is required.

So, would I recommend Come Hell or High Water Mascara? Let me summarize it in rhetoric: Do I recommend a $24 mascara that has a clean and waterproof formula, environmentally friendly packaging, strong color returns, and supports an emerging brand? certainly. The $24 price tag is comparable to most mascaras currently on the market, but the cleansing formula has a significant, long-lasting effect.

If they want to increase the volume of va-va-voom in their upcoming holiday makeup, does this belong to someone’s makeup routine? Maybe not, because this formula is wrong in terms of lengthening, it feels more subtle and more suitable for daily wear. Nevertheless, I would recommend this product to those who wish to raise their stakes in their daily work, while still maintaining the condition of the eyelashes and the cleanliness of the product line.
