Colorful squares of fabric decorated by community members during their visits to Sonoma Valley Community Health Center’s vaccine clinics are on display as an art exhibition in Causeway Gallery.

Community members were prompted to decorate the squares in response to the question, “Why were you vaccinated?” The exhibition, titled “The Fabric of Gratitude,” displays all the hand-drawn fabric squares created by some of the more than 30,000 people who passed through the health center’s vaccine clinics. Plans call for the squares to be stitched into a quilt.

The exhibition will be on display at Causeway Gallery, upstairs at the Sonoma Community Center (SCC), 276 E. Napa St. At the closing event, to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 at SCC’s Secret Garden, all of the health center’s partners, first responders and front-line workers are invited to come and say a few words about their experiences working with the community during the pandemic. Community members will be provided with fabric squares and fabric pens so that they can create their own fabric of gratitude.

The community is also invited to participate in the Community Sewing Event to sew the fabric quilt, to be displayed publicly at SCC and at Sonoma Valley Community Health Center (SVCHC) at a date to be announced soon.
